Cold wax is a beeswax-based medium mixed with oil paint to create a soft, workable surface. When combined with oil, it changes how light moves across the painting, producing finishes that range from gentle translucency to velvety matte.

Cold wax also alters the physical nature of the paint, allowing layers to be built with density and intention without heaviness. The resulting surfaces absorb and reflect light in subtle ways, inviting sustained looking as the work slowly reveals its depth and texture over time.
